So what is timesnewroman? It's not the font, rather my take on the age we live in. The USA is the new Rome and the times we live in are timesnewroman.

Sunday, March 12, 2006Perfect Day...well almost thewife had got the basic ingredients together for Pho. We started the preparation, and left a humungous pot of bones simmering away on the cooker and we headed off to Glasgow. We were going to the Chinese supermarket for some bits and bobs, and we were also on the lookout for a Mongolian Hot Pot that I had narrowly missed obtaining on E-bay earlier in the week. I would have got it too if I hadn't forgotten about the closing time, when some git jumped in and usurped my bid. To say that I wished bad things would happen to them was an understatement, nevertheless, given that I picked up a brand new pot for the same money, with two handles rather than one in the Chinese supermarket I forgive them.As well as our trip to Chinatown we also visited Sola. I had been told of this by a displaced colleague, with whom I used to share shifts in a residential children's home occasionally. I never knew it then but we share a number of musical tastes including Jazz and the great Curtis Mayfield himself. Anyway, he told me about Glasgow's Saturday afternoon Jazz scene and we popped in on our visit to see the George McGowan Jazz Orchestra. A big band with a big brassy sound we loved them. thewife said her father would've been in heaven if he had been in a place that had bloody good live jazz and beer together on the same menu. We are going again, soon, without the car. Then home to finish the Pho. It took a while, was extremely footery, but it tasted pretty damn good, despite some mistakes. Next time it'll be perfect! Damn those huns! posted by timesnewroman at 9:55 AM
