So what is timesnewroman? It's not the font, rather my take on the age we live in. The USA is the new Rome and the times we live in are timesnewroman.

Tuesday, July 27, 2004Wrong kind of cattle on the line.Over the past few weeks I have begun taking the train to and from work. Weighing up the pros and cons it emerges that, its more expensive, but this is offset mostly, by a transcard allowance from work rather than a mileage allowance. I don't have to drive at peak times in a mile long stress filled queue full of idiots that shouldn't be allowed to drive. thewife has the car during the day and can do shit with mumsy. I don't have to get in really early to find a parking space. I no longer have a travelling companion who talks a lot of shite, who was extremely unreliable when it was their turn to provide transport. Also I am not tied to their inflexible start and finish times, nor do I have to listen to their shit taste in music. I get to relax and read the paper, books and do the crossword. I can nod off in complete safety on the way home. I have to get to and from the station at both ends which is a bit of a nuisance, but thewife drops me off and picks me up and at the other end. If I am not late and the weather is okay I can walk so I get a bit of exercise as well. So far, the trains are uncrowded and on time. That was until last night when the 17:30 express, which has only one stop before mine and which should take under a half hour was 15 minutes late in getting in. The reason? Stray cattle on the line slowing things down. They were all brown these cows. Surely in Ayrshire they should have been like the cows below? ![]() Ayrshire Cow ![]() posted by timesnewroman at 5:42 AM
